From classroom to ballpark

It all started with a class project that turned into so much more. My team had to create a marketing plan to pitch to the Toronto Blue Jays. Our goal was to create a marketing plan that was aimed at a younger demographic of 18 to 24. We had to create a mockup of our ideas from transit ads, poster ads and much more. After weeks of brainstorming, refining and rehearsing, we presented our plan. My team and I were very excited to share our ideas and we had someone from the Blue Jays there to pitch it to. As a result, the Blue Jays chose our team鈥檚 ideas, and we were chosen to attend an upcoming game as a reward for our hard work.

Applying classroom knowledge in the real world

The skills and knowledge we gained in class were put to the test during our presentation. From market analysis to strategic planning and presentation skills, every lesson learned was applied to our pitch. It was a hands-on experience that reinforced the importance of collaboration and creativity in the marketing world.

What鈥檚 next?

As for what鈥檚 next, who knows? Last weekend was the Jays game, but the future holds endless possibilities. Over the course of my sport marketing class, I鈥檝e grown interest in the subject and hope for it to be my career one day. This was a great way to see what could be in store for me in the future. One thing鈥檚 for sure, I鈥檓 ready to tackle whatever comes my way with the same excitement and determination that fueled our victory in the classroom.

To my classmates, professor, and the Blue Jays organization, thank you for making this day possible. It鈥檚 a memory I鈥檒l cherish forever, and I can鈥檛 wait to see where the future takes us.
