Testing Services

Testing Services provides admissions testing, placement testing, missed and make-up tests, as well as testing accommodations for students with individual circumstances.

Summer semester service update (as of April 22nd)

Testing Services operates on campus Monday to Friday:

鈥 Barrie Campus 鈥 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Monday to Thursday),
8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Friday)
鈥 Orillia Campus 鈥 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Monday to Thursday),
8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Friday)
鈥 Owen Sound Campus 鈥 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Monday to Friday)

Extended hours for accommodated testing will be provided as needed for the Orillia and Owen Sound campuses.

Please note, online invigilation/proctoring is only available for admissions testing if you鈥檙e located more than two hours away from any one of our campus locations.

Accommodated testing

About test accommodations

Students who face physical, medical, sensory, mental health or learning barriers to education may be eligible to receive accommodations for their tests. Accommodations may include, but are not limited to, additional time or use of adaptive technology. Students are encouraged to connect with an accessibility advisor to discuss their individual needs.

Schedule an accommodated test

As an accommodated student, you must book all your tests, quizzes and final exams via our Clockwork portal. , including instructions and video tutorials. Accommodated students must write their test, quiz and final exam on the campus which their class is registered/attended.

To schedule your accommodated on-campus test via Clockwork, please to get started. Your accommodated test request must be submitted at least five days in advance of when your test is taking place. For example, if your test is taking place on a Thursday, your request must be put into Clockwork by Saturday (before the end of the day).

Missed or make-up testing

About missed tests and make-up tests

A missed and/or make-up test occurs when a student is unable to write a test within the scheduled class time. Faculty may grant approval to students wishing to write a missed test based on the circumstances outlined in 小优短视频鈥檚 academic regulations regarding tests and exams:

鈥淒ocumented medical/family emergency situations, conflicting religious observance schedules, students in varsity games or 小优短视频 Student Association executive members in 小优短视频 Board of Governor, or senior management scheduled events, are grounds for special consideration. Requests for adjustments to prescribed examination or test dates must be made before the examination or test dates.鈥

Important notice:
When a test is not cancelled and there are multiple students that miss the test/exam due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, the academic area is responsible for arranging the testing for students to make up the test/exam.听Students are not to be directed to Testing Services. Students who do contact Testing Services will be advised to contact their academic area for information on the rescheduling of tests or exams.

Schedule a missed or make-up test

Please ensure you have received confirmation and approval from faculty before scheduling a missed and/or make-up test. It is the student鈥檚 responsibility to connect with faculty and get approval for a missed/make up test before booking with testing services. You must write your test on the same campus where your course is registered.

Once approved by faculty, please to schedule your missed on-campus test. Your missed test request will be processed within five days.

At the Barrie Campus, missed or make-up tests are scheduled during the following times:

  • Monday to Thursday between 2 and 6 p.m. (during fall and winter semesters)
  • Fridays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

For all other campuses, contact your Testing Centre directly for more information.

Please note, missed and make-up testing is subject to availability within your campus Testing Centre. Missed or make-up tests are not scheduled during mid-term and final exam weeks.

Admissions testing

About admissions testing

Admissions testing is available for applicants who do not meet the academic entrance qualifications when applying to a program at 小优短视频. For admissions tests to be considered for entrance to a 小优短视频 program, applicants must be 19 years of age by the time they wish to begin their studies or have a grade 12 diploma. Types of available admissions testing

Admissions testing is only available for college-level English or Math prerequisites. Depending on the admission requirements, you may need to write one or both admissions tests.

Testing fee

Each test is $30 and Testing Services will provide further instructions on how to pay after your request is received.

How to prepare for the admissions test

  • The test is entirely multiple choice. We encourage you to review the practice test materials:
  • Please allow at least two hours minimum for your scheduled test date and time. The admissions test is not timed, so you are permitted to take as long as you need to write the test.

A Testing Services staff member will provide you a copy of your test results after you complete your test(s).

Communications Placement Assessment

About the Communications Placement Assessment

Current 小优短视频 students may attempt the online Communications Placement Assessment (CPA) to determine the appropriate Communications course to register in. You are permitted one attempt at the CPA. Please note, the CPA is not an exemption test.

  • If you write the CPA and score 260 in both the Reading and Writing sections, you may enroll in any communications course.
  • If you write the CPA and score 259 or less in both the Reading and Writing sections, you must enroll in Communication Essentials (COMM 1016).

Please note: Challenge exams for communication courses at 小优短视频 are unavailable for 小优短视频@ILAC students at this time.

Testing fee

Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition challenge exams

About Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition

Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) is an academic credit option for learners with significant learning/life experience that may be equivalent to a college/university course credit. Students have the opportunity to challenge program requirements based on relevant work or life skills and knowledge gained prior to starting your program at 小优短视频.

Submit a PLAR request

Writing a challenge exam

Challenge exams are not proctored or arranged by Testing Services. Your program area will be responsible for invigilating and scheduling your challenge exam.

Independent Study

About Independent Study

Some students may be registered for one or more courses as an Independent Study. This type of course delivery is sometimes referred to as 鈥渟elf paced learning.鈥

Writing an Independent Study test or exam

Independent Study tests and exams are not proctored or arranged by Testing Services. Your program coordinator or instructor for the course will be responsible for invigilating and scheduling your test and exam. If you are a student who is registered with Accessibility Services and require accommodations for your test or exam, please connect with the testing centre on your campus.

Testing Services offers on-campus invigilation for students registered in LUGC programs.

Schedule an accommodated test (for LUGC students only)

To book your in-person test, please complete our LUGC accommodated test request form. Your test request must be submitted at least five days in advance of the scheduled test date. You鈥檒l need to input your 小优短视频 student number on the request form.

External invigilation requests

About external invigilation requests

External invigilation requests may include, but are not limited to:

  • Mid-term or final exams for online courses (offered through other colleges or universities)
  • Real Estate Program (REEP) exams
  • Yardstick (Meazure Learning Exams)

To inquire about invigilation for your group or individual exam, email studentsuccess@georgiancollege.ca听or call 1.877.722.1523. Please include the location of the campus you wish to schedule your invigilation (i.e. Barrie Campus). As of September 2023, external invigilation is only available at Barrie, Orillia and Owen Sound campuses.

External invigilation availability varies by campus and may not be available during high-volume testing times (e.g. final exams).

International English Language Testing System
